1. Swisher's double
- A recap of Pettitte's 8 innings of one run ball, during which he allowed 6 hits, struck out 8 and walked none.
- Was this recap a total cop out? Yes.
First pitch tomorrow is at 3:35PM tomorrow as the Yanks and Javier Vazquez look to win their sixth consecutive series to start the season for the first time in franchise history.
Five of seven Yankee runs came with two outs. To me, the biggest RBIs were Cervelli's, taking it from 1-0 to 3-0 in the 4th, and Teixeira's driving in Gardner, ensuring that Gardner's lead-off triple did not get wasted.
ReplyDeleteNice piece at LoHud by Chad Jennings on Cervelli's growing confidence at the plate. What a difference his development as a decent stick would make. Clearly Jorge's bat and power are superior, but Cervelli's being a serviceable fill-in makes days like yesterday a real treat--calling a great game from Pettite, and making a bottom of the order that looked weak on paper a surprising strength. They didn't miss a beat with Cisco, they got a win, great pitching and fill-in productivity, and Jorge got to rest.
Pena had a good day in the field as well as at the plate, making a great diving stop at third. Ace glove.
Take the rubber game today, Yanks.
